Learning from the experts: A NASSM Conversation with Dr. Ajhanai (AJ) Keaton
On March 25th, the NASSM Conversations task force sat down with Dr. Ajhanai (AJ) Keaton to dig deeper into her Journal of Sport Management article, “An interpretative phenomenological analysis of Black women Diversity and Inclusion Leaders in sport organizations.” The conversation covered her process in doing the research and writing the piece, the findings and how they relate to today, and the joys and challenges of her chosen method. Also discussed was her overarching philosophy in engaging in research, advice for upcoming scholars, and her career journey thus far.
In a break from previous session recaps, writing this session up as a blog won’t do it justice. Instead, we will leave you with a powerful quote shared during the session, followed by the recording of the session itself!
““I believe we can all win. I don’t treat [sport management academia] as a zero-sum game.””
