About Us
The mission of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) is to promote, stimulate, and encourage study, research, scholarly writing, and professional development in the area of sport management. Members of the Society are concerned about the theoretical and applied aspects of management theory and practice specifically related to sport, exercise, dance, and play, as these fields are pursued by all sectors of the population. The Society endeavors to support and cooperate with local, regional, national, and international organizations that have similar purposes and organizes and administers conferences to promote its purposes.

Offices and Duties
There are four NASSM offices to which any member can aspire. Each elected officer performs duties on behalf of the membership for a limited term. Offices, term limits, and duties are provided below. The NASSM Executive Board (all elected officers) meets 3 times per year: 1) a spring meeting at the annual conference site days prior to the NASSM convention; 2) a “change over” meeting held toward the end of the conference when both retiring and newly elected officers meet as a whole; and 3) a fall meeting in mid-November held at a centrally located site or in the upcoming convention city.

The Executive Director (ED) will lead efforts to enhance the operational success of NASSM by coordinating the annual conference; cultivating and maintaining a member-centered environment through the collaboration with the Governing Board, Journal of Sport Management (JSM) and Sport Management Education Journal (SMEJ); and overseeing standing and award committees. The (ED) contributes to the overall success of NASSM by leading and maintaining its operational functions.
The duties of the ED are part-time in nature, and the primary, conference, and other responsibilities of the role are detailed here.

Group Email List
The NASSM Group Email List service is intended to serve as means to communicate events, news, and items of interest to members of the broad sport management community. It is open to anyone interested in joining (NASSM members and non-members alike) and operates as an unmoderated service. To join the list, use one of the following options:
Sign into your Google Account or create a new Google Account. If you wish to join using a non-Gmail address, click here to create a Google Account using the email address of your choice.
Visit this page https://groups.google.com/g/nassm
if you are logged in to your Google Account: Click “For access, try joining the group".
If you are not logged in to Google: Click “For access, try logging in”.
Once you have completed one of these steps, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your email address (if you do not receive such an email, Google has decided that it is not necessary for your particular email address). Once your membership to the listserv is confirmed (Google will send you a confirmation email), you can post to the listserv by sending an email to nassm@googlegroups.com.
More information on how to create or respond to posts can be found via Google Groups Support. To leave the group, go to https://groups.google.com, and then follow these instructions.
